Starting Position and Goals
A UAE professional services firm had strong content but weak domain authority (DR 18 at the start of the programme). Despite well-written pages targeting competitive queries, they were stuck on pages 2 to 4 because their backlink profile was insufficient to compete with better-established competitors.
The goal: increase domain authority enough to compete for their top 20 target keywords within 12 months. This required an estimated 40 to 60 new referring domains at or above DR 40.
The Link Building Programme
The programme combined four strategies: digital PR (pitching expert commentary to UAE financial and business publications), broken link building (finding dead links on high-authority sites and offering our content as a replacement), resource page link building (getting listed on UAE business resource directories), and partnership links (suppliers, professional associations, event organisations).
Over 12 months, we acquired 58 new referring domains with an average DR of 52. This included links from Arabian Business, Forbes Middle East, a UAE government portal, and three professional association sites.
Rankings and Revenue Impact
By month nine, rankings for the top 20 target keywords had moved from pages 2 to 4 to page one. By month 12, three keywords were ranking in positions 1 to 3, driving a 4x increase in organic traffic compared to the start of the programme.
The business impact: organic enquiries increased from fewer than five per month to over 30 per month. At the firm's average client value, this represented hundreds of thousands of dirhams in potential annual revenue from a single channel improvement.
